Excitement surrounding the Indiana Fever's 2025 off-season is expected to carry over into training camp with a new look team. It's been a long time since the Fever last played in-game action together, September 25 to be exact. All WNBA teams report to training camp beginning April 27, just two weeks after the WNBA Draft. Young faces will officially be eligible to take the floor with veterans and coaching staffs.
One thing Fever fans should keep an eye on in this year's camp is just how all of this talent will fit into head coach Stephanie White's game plan moving forward. They will all be learning new roles while adjusting to playing alongside new teammates. Team chemistry will be a huge agenda on Coach White's list, not just developing skill sets. The Fever had added all of the necessary pieces missing from last season to make a serious championship run, but none of that will matter if players don't know their roles.
Training camp isn't just an opportunity for players to get acclimated with one another, but to get used to playing under White. Camp will start off with 15 total players in attendance including six signed to new contracts, three draft picks and one player on a training camp contract.

Players to watch in training camp
The Fever were arguably the most active in free agency. Because of the moves they made, they didn't need to be as aggressive in the draft unlike recent years. They added an enforcer, strong veteran experience and younger talent to build around Caitlin Clark, Aliyah Boston and company.
It will be interesting to see how veteran acquisitions such as DeWanna Bonner, 37, who leads the entire WNBA in playoff experience having played in 87 games, and Natasha Howard, 33, who came off arguably one of her strongest seasons for the Dallas Wings averaging just under 18 points a game and a 3-time WNBA champion, will mesh into the starting lineup.
The Fever lacked depth on their bench last season and solved this problem in free agency. Now the Fever find themselves with all of this talent up and down their roster, but will need to establish the right fit for all of their players - starting lineup and off the bench.
It's a certainty that Caitlin Clark, Aliyah Boston and Kelsey Mitchell will likely be in the starting lineup consistently, but another question will lie in the guard position. Lexie Hull came off a monster second half season leading the league in 3-point shooting, but really fell off during her time playing in Unrivaled during the off-season.
Her Unrivaled performance left Fever fans in worry and wonder. Especially after the team signed Sophie Cunningham from the Phoenix Mercury during the off-season. Cunningham is another strong 3-point shooter, but the question remains in training camp which one will find themselves in a leading role when it comes to playing time.
They also added young stars Brianna Turner and Sydney Colson on new contracts who will likely get playing time off the bench. Young talent also comes with three new draft picks Bree Hall, Makayla Timpson, and Yvonne Ejim, all of whom will battle for a roster spot throughout training camp. The Fever will likely find themselves in a position of only carrying 11 players to start the season, leaving each of the draft picks in a heated competition for a spot.
The team went into the draft with 12 players already on their roster including Jillian Alleyne and Jaelyn Brown, both who are on training camp contracts. Given the situation surrounding the Fever's salary cap situation it will likely only allow room for 11 on the final roster for the season opener.
With all of the roaring noise the Fever made in free agency, they are in talk of being championship favorites. But this is all still just hype and talk until the team gets into the thick of a two week training camp. The roster looks good on paper, but the work still has to be put in for players to learn how to play efficiently together and build on-court chemistry for this bolstered roster to have success.
Each player will get opportunities, although not many, to prove themselves to the coaching staff and front office. The Fever will play in three preseason games, including one against the Brazilian national team in Iowa City and against both the Washington Mystics and Atlanta Dream.
