Caitlin Clark continues to attract haters amidst winning award after award. This time, though, it's an ex-NBA player who has her in his crosshairs.
Jeff Teague, former NBA champion and long-time Atlanta Hawk, got on the Club 520 Podcast and went in on the AP Female Athlete of the Year.
Teague, without any prompting, told cohost Bishop B. Henn that he would lose in a 1v1 to Maya Moore. It was apparent, as the interview went on, that Teague meant this as an insult to Henn.
Teague took it a step further, though, and referenced himself.
"If a girl beat me one-on-one, I swear to God I'd never pick up a basketball again," said Teague. "I remember Skylar Diggins tried to say she could beat me before. She said, 'man, you're not even that good.' I was like, 'girl, you can't even score on UConn.'"
It was then established by the panel that no WNBA player would beat any NBA player. Teague, once again, took it a step further. He brought up the NBA G-League's most famous star: Bronny James.
"Caitlin would not score a point on Bronny, bro," said Teague. "She might not even get a shot off... I swear he would beat her 20-0."

It is an unfortunate topic of conversation. The WNBA has seen unprecedented success in 2024, much to the credit of young stars like Clark, Angel Reese, and Aliyah Boston. Yet someone of Teague's status, as a former NBA All-Star, feels the need to tear down the women's game.
If the women's game is expected to continue growing, NBA players (both past and present) must try to uplift the game. This conversation was unprompted and unnecessary-- and perfectly illustrates the glaring disparity between the perception of men's and women's sports.
