By now, most Indiana Fever fans have seen the heartwarming video that was posted Christmas Day.
Taylor Massey, an Indianapolis native, posted a video on her TikTok that captured the hearts of the WNBA community. Massey's grandmother, Mary Johann, opened her present with her family looking on. It was a Caitlin Clark jersey, much to her excitement. She put her head in her hands and you could see the tears of joy starting to well up.
But little did "Maw Jo" know-- there was much more holiday cheer headed her way.
Johann was told that there was one more surprise underneath the jersey. It was an envelope, one that she promptly opened. Inside was a gift that would make any Fever fan's heart flutter-- a ticket to watch Clark and the Fever play in 2025.
"Maw Jo" is officially TikTok famous
The video went viral, reposted by just about every women's basketball and women's sports page in existence. It even caught the attention of Caitlin Clark herself, who replied, "Let's go grams."
In an interview with News 8 in Indianapolis (WISH TV), Maw Jo expressed just how big of a WNBA fan she is-- and a fan of Clark especially.
“I’m all over the room," said Johann. "I’m here by myself, but I love it. I cheer. I scream. I like her character I like the way she handles the public.”
Luckily for her, she doesn't have to be by herself at home to watch the Fever for very long.
Maw Jo will head to Gainbridge Fieldhouse this season to watch the Indiana Fever in action. Massey posted on Instagram that Fever GM Amber Cox had reached out to the family, so be on the lookout for another chapter to this heartwarming story.
