Honestly, this is starting to get old.
"Kelsey Mitchell goes off in China... again. More news at seven."
Mitchell and the Shanxi Flame are now 12-5 after a 77-74 loss to Guangdong on Monday, but the Indiana Fever guard continues to show out. In her final performance of 2024, Mitchell put up 28 points, five assists, and four rebounds.
Mitchell shot 10-of-17 from the field, including a pair of three-pointers.
This is Mitchell's third straight 20+ point game, and her 13th overall. In those four games where she missed the mark, Mitchell is averaging over 14 points per game.
In other words, Mitchell is on a tear in the WCBA
IFR has followed Mitchell in her overseas season closely, as the WNBA All-Star is entering free agency this offseason. She and fellow Fever standout guard Caitlin Clark both averaged 19.2 points per game in 2024, making them both Top 10 scorers in the league. Mitchell's services will be highly coveted.
New Fever head coach Stephanie White has made it clear that she wants Mitchell back. White plans to build a title contender around Mitchell, Clark, and Aliyah Boston. Given how well Mitchell and Clark played together, it is hard to argue with White on this one.
With this string of success, in just these past 17 games, Kelsey Mitchell has proven two things. The first, and most obvious, is that she is one of the most talented scorers in the world. If that was unclear following the 2024 WNBA season, it should no longer be up for debate.
The second, and most important-- The Indiana Fever need to do everything in their power to get her back.
