What to know about the Rose
The WNBA's rebound queen, third-highest scorer, and a Top-10 distributor on the same team-- yeah, this should be fun.
To describe the Rose in a word or two, you could say "High-volume." You could say "well-balanced." But the word that describes the Rose best: Hustle.
Angel Reese led the WNBA in rebounds last season, averaging 13.1 per contest and grabbing boards on the offensive side of the court just as often as the defensive. Chelsea Gray doesn't just contribute- she fills the box score in a ton of different ways. Kahleah Copper is one of the best all-around scorers in the league.
Copper and Reese have already started building that chemistry.
Then you have the Fever's Lexie Hull, somewhat of a unicorn when you consider the fact that she can give you valuable minutes both in the backcourt and on the wing. She's not just a shooter-- she was the heart and soul of the Indiana Fever last season.
Add Brittney Sykes and Azurá Stevens to the mix and head coach Nola Henry takes the helm of an absolutely stacked squad.
What to know about the Vinyl
There are three absolute stars to start for the Vinyl, making head coach Teresa Weatherspoon's job easy.
Arike Ogunbowale is a lock, this is pretty obvious. The Notre Dame grad ranked second in the WNBA in scoring last season (22.2 PPG) and is easily one of the best women's basketball players on the planet.
Having a talent like that team up with one of the game's brightest young forwards in Indiana's Aliyah Boston is going to be one of the most interesting duos this spring.
Then you have former #1 overall pick Rhyne Howard, who is yeat to average under 16 points per game in her career. With her filling in the third spot, defenses will have trouble keeping up when the starters are on the floor.
Rae Burrell, Jordin Canada, and Dearica Hamby come off the bench to contribute, but the real story is that starting three for the Vinyl. It's the perfect mix of shifty space creation and physical post play-- making the Vinyl a serious contender on paper.
