With each day, we inch closer to the start date of the brand new 3v3 women's basketball league-- Unrivaled.
There are two members on the Indiana Fever that will be participating in Aliyah Boston and Lexie Hull. There is a possibility that they will not be the last-- Kelsey Plum announced that she will not be participating, and there are two additional slots for wildcard players.
IFR broke down Boston's fit on the Vinyl earlier this week. The Vinyl are a sneaky-good team that should be able to find success behind head coach Teresa Weatherspoon. Lexie Hull, on the other hand, will be playing with one of Weatherspoon's old players from last season.
As we approach the start of the new year, IFR breaks down Hull's fit on the Rose.
Arguably the best part about Unrivaled is the fact that these rosters are loaded.
Chelsea Gray knows a little something about playing with a superteam. Her Las Vegas Aces have been contenders for the better part of a decade, bringing home a WNBA championship in 2022. The "Point Gawd" has been the glue of the roster, teaming up with Kelsey Plum, Jackie Young, and A'ja Wilson and making sure those stars get the ball.
Gray now teams up with Hull, Kahleah Copper, Angel Reese, Azura Stevens, and Brittney Sykes for Unrivaled's inaugural season, making up one of the fiestiest rosters in the league. Sure, this team is just as talented as the rest. But the common factor amongst all of these players is the fact that they all grind out wins for their teams.
Gray and Copper are certified bucket-getters-- they take tough shots and they make them at a high clip. These two on the same court are a matchup nightmare. Some nights, the defense is going to throw everything at these two and it just isn't going to matter.
Pair the duo's shot-making ability with Angel-freaking-Reese and you've got yourself a squad.
How does Lexie Hull fit in? She will most likely not start, but she will play valuable minutes. Her ability to not only stretch the floor but also to set up others will be coveted. Hull is a player that can play multiple positions in multiple schemes.
She is a chameleon, and as such will be the first off the bench on this roster.
This team will be tough to match up with. Reese provides a physical presence down low and on the glass. Gray and Copper have a ton in their offensive toolkits. Hull, Sykes, and Stevens make up a solid second unit.
This is a team to look out for on January 17 when they take on the Vinyl.
