2025 WNBA Schedule: 3 matchups Indiana Fever fans should have circled
The WNBA released its 2025 regular season schedule Monday, meaning the Indiana Fever can now prepare for its new 44-game slate.
Indiana will play each team in the league at least three times, and each Eastern Conference rival four times. The Fever will take on the Chicago Sky five times in 2025, Chicago being the only opponent on the slate that many times.
Here are three dates Fever fans should have circled:
May 17: Home vs. Chicago Sky
Indiana opens up its 2025 slate against what is becoming a heated rival.
The Chicago Sky will travel the 183 miles to take on the Fever, adding another chapter to the Caitlin Clark-Angel Reese saga. Last season, Indiana took the season series, 3-1, but this one was always an entertaining matchup.
In the first meeting between these two squads last season, Sky guard Chennedy Carter was called for a flagrant 1 foul after initiating unnecessary contact against Clark on an inbound. Clark was sent to the floor, and the two teams seemed to share some bad blood ever since.
At the end of the day, any time Clark and Reese are on the same court will make for highly-anticipated women's basketball.
June 19: Away at Golden State Valkyries
WNBA fans still don't know who the Valkyries' roster will feature, but this first all-time meeting should be fun.
Indiana will head out to the Bay Area to take on Golden State at San Francisco's Chase Center, home of the Golden State Warriors. While a lot is still in the air, especially on the players front, the prospect of bringing the WNBA's biggest draw to one of the NBA's premiere audiences should make for a great atmosphere.
It will also make for the first matchup against a former Fever player following the expansion draft. After developments on social media Monday, this could end up being the "NaLyssa Smith revenge game."
June 27: Away at Dallas Wings
All indicators suggest that the Dallas Wings will select UConn's Paige Bueckers with the first overall pick in April's WNBA Draft, meaning the Caitlin Clark-Paige Bueckers matchup will get another installment.
Clark and Bueckers last met in the 2024 Final Four in Cleveland, which saw Clark and the Hawkeyes advance to their second-straight national championship game. The two superstars were dueling, Clark finishing with 21 points, nine rebounds and seven assists, while Bueckers tallied 17 points of her own. It is the only meeting between the two, and this game will be the first in the professional ranks.
Assuming that Dallas does select Bueckers (which they should, barring a tremendous scouting failiure), Bueckers will team up with Arike Ogunbowale in the backcourt. Clark and Kelsey Mitchell will have their hands full- expect a guard-dominant contest.
