Shaquille O’Neal pays Caitlin Clark the ultimate compliment
By Tyler Watts
The Indiana Fever are back because of Caitlin Clark. Her incredible skill set helped her break records, win awards, and quickly become one of the best players in the W. The 22-year-old took the league to new heights with her massive fan base. She is a transcendent star who is just getting started.
The added popularity has made the Fever’s superstar divisive. Millions of fans love her, but there are plenty of haters. It comes with being an elite talent on the most popular franchise in your sport. Clark dealt with it at the University of Iowa and will continue to have detractors.
Like it or not, Caitlin Clark changed the WNBA and women’s basketball for the better. The fan base continues to grow, and more people watching means more dollars. Even Shaquille O’Neal gave Clark an unbelievable shoutout on Angel Reese’s “Unapologetically Angel” podcast.
Shaquille O’Neal says Caitlin Clark is doing what nobody has done before
Shaq gave Reese a solution to making the W more like the NBA before bringing up Clark to prove his point. He asked the Sky’s star what made Clark special, and Reese quickly pointed to her logo shooting. O’Neal gave the highest praise for that skill.
“We’ve never seen that before. That is my point. You know why I love Steph Curry? Because I’ve never seen that before.”
Shaq admitted to previously being a Clark hater but gave her props for being able to shoot from way beyond the line consistently. The Hall of Famer even called Clark “the truth” for being able to prove him wrong continually. Fans can listen to O’Neal’s full conversation with Angel Reese below.
O’Neal knows something about greatness and separating from the world’s best. The 15-time All-Star won four NBA championships and is one of the most dominant big men in history.
Clark has a unique skill set that may allow her to take over. Her time is coming, but fans might have a few more years to wait.
There is no higher praise than saying Caitlin Clark is raising the bar and comparable to an all-time great point guard. Curry and the Warriors brought in a new era in the NBA, and the Fever’s star is doing the same thing in the W.
It was shocking to hear these comments come from Shaquille O’Neal, but he has clearly grown fond of Clark’s game.
She will be back and better than ever for year two. The Indiana Fever hope to build a title-contending roster around her this offseason, but it is easier said than done. They have their superstar, and she has years to continue improving. Stay tuned because the Fever will soon be a force and the popularity will only rise from here.
