There is plenty of women’s basketball happening right now. Unrivaled just wrapped up its inaugural season, and March Madness is here. Between all of that, it is easy to lose track of the WNBA for the moment, but the 2025 season is approaching faster than it may seem.
A quick reminder of that came when the WNBA released its broadcast and streaming schedule. That schedule included some big news for Indiana Fever fans. The Fever will have 41 of their 44 games on national TV. That is the highest number in franchise and league history. Granted, the WNBA just upped the number of games in a season, but this is still incredibly impressive—only three of the Fever’s games are not on national TV. It definitely speaks to the talent on the roster.
The Fever made some huge moves this offseason, re-signing Kelsey Mitchell, trading for Sophie Cunningham, and signing DeWanna Bonner, Natasha Howard, Sydney Colton, and Brianna Turner in free agency. The organization wasted no time building a competitive team around Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston.
The Fever should be one of the most exciting teams to watch in the 2025 season
If the 2024 WNBA season proved anything, it is that basketball fans love to watch Caitlin Clark. The Fever set a league record for home attendance, and opposing teams regularly moved games to bigger arenas when Clark came to town. That was when the Fever were an average team, finishing the 2024 season with a 20-20 record.
Early indications are that things will not look any different in the 2025 season. Teams are already moving games against the Fever to bigger arenas, and the league obviously decided that the Fever were the one team they wanted to showcase most on national TV. Caitlin Clark and her ability to draw in fans are a huge part of that, but it is not everything.
Fans love to watch Clark shoot threes or dish out passes to her teammates, but they also love to see teams win. Now that Clark and Boston are surrounded by capable two-way veterans with championship experience, the Fever should be able to do that a lot more. If everyone on the roster is healthy, the Fever have the talent to compete with the Liberty, Lynx, Aces, and Mercury. They have the star power and experience necessary.
They also have one of the brightest stars in the game right now and that will draw eyes to the Fever even from people who are not necessarily fans of the franchise or dedicated WNBA fans.
