The Indiana Fever are fresh off a breakout season. They made the playoffs for the first time since 2016, and Caitlin Clark was instantly a superstar. She finished fourth in MVP voting as a rookie and is arguably the best offensive creator in the W. Indiana was bounced in the first round of the playoffs, but this is only the beginning.
Clark will improve in year two. The strong close has fans forgetting the 1-8 start with the rookie committing 5.7 turnovers per game. She will hit the ground running in 2025 and figures to break tons of records with the regular season expanding to 44 games. There will be millions of fans watching too, but Clark cannot do it alone.
The Fever need to put more talent around her. They are projected to have cap space, a top-ten draft choice, and assets to trade. GM Lin Dunn made it clear that Indiana won’t have any issues finding talent.
Free agents are already lining up to play with Caitlin Clark
Dunn joined the Wake Up Call on 107.5 The Fan on Wednesday morning to discuss all things Fever. She let fans know their top offseason priority before diving into upgrading their roster. Dunn was not shy about letting everyone know about the interest in playing next to Clark.
“We are already starting to hear some initial conversations with agents letting us know that their player might be available for trade that they might be available in the free agency and that they would love to play with Clark.”
This should come as zero surprise. Clark helps any player put up numbers. The Fever will play up-tempo, and number 22 will certainly draw the defense. Indiana needs to put shooting and defense around their star point guard. Flanking Clark with a perimeter stopper and another lights out shooter could do wonders for the Fever.
The salary cap is projected to rise significantly in 2026. Getting in one season playing off the Rookie of the Year to boost your numbers could make a player a lot of money. They will be lining up to join the Fever in 2025. It is the chance to play in front of a sold crowd every night and boost stats on a team with title-contending aspirations.
Who can the Indiana Fever acquire? GM Lin Dunn says there is no shortage of interest in playing with Caitlin Clark, but the front office must find the right pieces. They need talent that helps them win and pushes Clark to another level. The Fever will be dangerous in 2025, and this offseason will determine a ton. Stay tuned to see how it all shakes out.
