The Indiana Fever are not done making moves this offseason

The new-look Fever have added plenty of luxuries this offseason. But the next move is not a "want"-- it's a necessity.

Brianna Turner was the latest in a slew of big-name moves the Indiana Fever have made this offseason to prep for what could be a 2025 title run.

Turner, a defensive threat in the low post, adds another level to the Fever's new-look defense. Indiana, behind Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell, were the third offense in the WNBA in 2024 at 85.0 points per game. The defense, on the other hand, was at the opposite end of the spectrum with the 11th ranked defensive rating in the league.

Turner, along with new additions DeWanna Bonner and Natasha Howard, will help flip the script for the Fever on the defensive end of the court. They also bring tons of playoff and championship experience to help establish a winning culture for the Fever's young core of stars.

But the Fever are not done this offseason

The addition of Turner brings up a salary cap conversation. The Fever currently have $31,250 in cap space, per Spotrac, but they have also signed Jaelyn Brown to a training camp deal. Brown seems like she is going to be on the official roster by the start of the season, though, since the Fever have posted a video of Brown speaking to the fanbase.

The Fever's options are limited. The team can either cut one of their young stars (ALL of which are out of the discussion) or they can trade someone for picks. The two players that are most likely to be traded are forward Damiris Dantas and guard Kristy Wallace.

Dantas is primed for a big season off the bench for the Fever, seemingly having shaken off the rust from a knee injury and playing very well this offseason in Turkey. With Howard, Turner, and Aliyah Boston being the only true bigs on the roster aside from Dantas, it would be unwise to part ways from the Brazilian native.

That leaves Wallace, who will struggle to find playing time in an oversaturated backcourt anyway.

Wallace has been a serviceable player off the bench, averaging 4.7 points per game in 2024 in the Fever's second unit. Her services will be needed by teams in the league with less depth, and she will find more playing time elsewhere.

The Fever could very well be exploring options to package Wallace together with the 19th or 20th pick in the upcoming WNBA Draft for a pick in a future draft. That would free up enough space to keep Brown post training camp, unless the Fever are planning to trade up in this year's draft.

Either way, the Indiana Fever have at least one more move in them this offseason.
