Caitlin Clark took the WNBA by storm last season. Despite being only a rookie, she drew many eyes to the Indiana Fever and the league as a whole. She was named an All-Star and quickly established herself as one of the best young players in the league. Expectations were high for Clark’s rookie season, but she did not crumble under the pressure.

Now, it is time for Clark to build on that success—individually and with her team. The Fever made the playoffs last season but did not win a game, falling 2-0 to the Connecticut Sun in the first round. Since then, the Fever have made some serious changes to boost their playoff chances. They hired Stephanie White to take over as head coach and added DeWanna Bonner, Natasha Howard, and Sophie Cunningham to the roster.

Nevertheless, a lot of the team’s success will depend on Caitlin Clark’s development and growth in her second season. All in all, she seems ready for another big year.

Prediction #3: Caitlin Clark will lead the WNBA in assists per game (again)

One of Caitlin Clark’s big feats in the 2024 WNBA season was leading the league in assists per game. With an average of 8.4 assists per game, she ranked ahead of established veterans such as Alyssa Thomas, Natasha Cloud, and Skylar Diggins-Smith. Even more impressive was that she did this in her rookie year on a young, inexperienced team.

There is no reason to believe that Clark cannot repeat this feat in the 2025 season. While there are great playmakers in the league, Clark will be more accustomed to WNBA-level defenses and surrounded by better teammates. She will have plenty of opportunities to dish out assists at a high level.

Prediction #2: Caitlin Clark will lead the Fever to their first playoff win since 2015

The Indiana Fever have not won a playoff game since 2015. It is time to change that, and Caitlin Clark is the key to getting there. The Fever may have added several impactful veterans, but in the long run, the team will go as far as Clark takes it.

Last season, the Fever did not win a playoff game, as the team’s youth and inexperience showed itself against a veteran team like the Connecticut Sun. In the 2025 season, the Fever will not only have more players with playoff experience on the roster, but Clark and Aliyah Boston will also be a year older and know what to expect from the playoffs.

No one should be surprised to see Clark take her game to the next level in the 2025 playoffs and lead the Fever to at least one win or maybe even a series win. She may not be the team’s best player in every single game but she will surely be the main reason for any playoff success the Fever experience in 2025.

Prediction #1: Caitlin Clark will truly enter the MVP conversation

The 2024 WNBA MVP race was not much of a race—A’ja Wilson deservedly won the award unanimously—but Caitlin Clark did receive some consideration. In 2025, her case will look much better.

First of all, she won’t be a rookie anymore and will be much more comfortable playing at the WNBA level. That alone will lead to improvements. Secondly, the Fever are expected to be one of the more competitive teams in the league. Winning a lot of games always helps a player’s MVP case.

So, Clark should be able to truly worm her way into the MVP conversation, maybe even finishing in the top three in votes. Winning the award is an entirely different matter. A’ja Wilson will once again make a strong case for MVP, and Napheesa Collier looks ready to give her some trouble as well.
