Lexie Hull is entering her fourth season with the Indiana Fever. Last season, she got off to a slow start, but when given the opportunity, she took full advantage. In fact, her strong defensive skills and elite three-point shooting are what helped get the Fever into the postseason for the first time since 2016.

2025 is a new season and the Fever have an almost entirely new group of players and coaches. Fans have gotten a quick glimpse of what this season may bring for Lexie Hull in social media posts from the Fever, giving an inside look at training camp.

Rotations in training camp do not matter, but role development does. With the additions of Sophie Cunningham and Brianna Turner, Hull may see her role drop on the depth chart.

Lexie Hull may play a smaller role than expected

One concern that fans have about Hull is that she finished last in Unrivaled in scoring and played flat for most of her time there. However, competing for her spot should not be anything new to her. This season, Hull will certainly have to play for her spot. She will start the season on the bench, given the veterans on the roster in front of her in the rotation. Natasha Howard, Caitlin Clark, Aliyah Boston, Kelsey Mitchell, and DeWanna Bonner should make up the starting lineup.

It should be noted, though, that there are going to now be 44 games played between May and September. Injuries happen, even if the Fever have the advantage of having no players competing in EuroBasket this season. It is believed that Hull will start this season off in the same spot in the rotation as she did last season. She will be expected to play her way up or step into voids created by injuries.

The full bench lineup that the team played with in training camp made Hull’s on-ball defense look solid and comfortable, even while guarding Caitlin Clark. Once things were switched and a new defensive system was on she didn't seem as confident.

Make no mistake about it, Hull can play defense and is very good at drawing charges, but the Fever will need to really evaluate what she brings and how she will fit into the rotation. Hull plays well on the wing. She can drive to the basket and is quick getting to the other end of the floor. All those things make her an asset to the team. However, fans should not go into the new year expecting to see Hull playing 20 to 30 minutes a game. Because the Fever have so much depth, her minutes may just be dictated by how well her teammates are performing.
