Indiana Fever guard Lexie Hull , 25, is entering the new season after coming off one of her best seasons in the WNBA. Going into her third year in the league, the Fever fan base is expecting even more from Hull. She had a slow start, like much of the team, who started 2-9, but really put the foot on the gas the entire second half of the season.
She led the entire league in 3-point shooting percentage at 47.8%, a much greater improvement from the year prior where she shot only 21% from three-point range. Hull was undoubtedly a key piece in the Fever reaching the playoffs for the first time since 2016.
These numbers for Hull are great and will be the key to receive significant playing minutes this season after the success the Fever had in free agency. She fell off during the Unrivaled season and this very concern struck Fever fans radars. Despite being in a 3 vs 3 league, Hull saw very few playing minutes and production was minuscule. Lack of production playing in an unfamiliar league could just be a fluke, but with the addition of veteran Sophie Cunningham, Hull will need to play consistently well.
Hull has shown a lot, but she'll need to keep it up
Hull's hot start last season showed the level of potential that she can play at. The team really began to rely on her defensive strengths of creating turnovers and racing down the floor, draining three-point shots to take the stress off of Caitlin Clark and company. Hull is one of the best floor-spacers on the roster for Clark and Aliyah Boston.
One thing that she has an edge on this season is the chemistry she has built with the Fever's big players. Head coach Stephanie White is one of the best coaches in the league when it comes to building the strengths of her players and getting them to play committed. Hull playing under a coach like this should be of huge benefit to elevate her game on a consistent basis.
With the level of competition that the Fever will have on their roster going into training camp that will leave little room for error for every single player, including Hull. Even though it is likely she will see less playing time compared to the second half of last season, with the additions of Natasha Howard and DeWanna Bonner, she will be a vital key player coming off the bench for the Fever. Hull can't allow her lack of production in Unrivaled to carry into the new season.
She will be an unrestricted free agent after the upcoming season, so a strong 2025 outing can likely land Hull with a large contract going further.
