Fever's latest addition proves they're not wasting any of Caitlin Clark's prime
By Tyler Watts
The Indiana Fever have a game-changer in Caitlin Clark. She broke several records as a rookie and brought a ton of popularity to the W. The Fever have a generational talent but were searching for someone to build their roster around the 22-year-old.
President Allison Barber decided to step down after the 2024 season. She had been in that role since 2019, but Indiana needed a new leader to push them back into contention.
The Fever found her on Monday when they announced Kelly Krauskopf was returning to that role. She has a long history with the franchise and spent the last six years as the Pacers assistant GM. Here is a look at why this was the perfect signing for Clark and the franchise.
Fever won’t waste Caitlin Clark’s prime with Kelly Krauskopf in charge
Krauskopf joined the Fever in 2000, and she was the one who built all those successful teams around Tamika Catchings. Indiana made the playoffs 12 straight years, including winning the championship in 2012. They were always a contender with one of the all-time greats. The Fever won 12 playoff series and made three WNBA Finals. Krauskopf always found pieces and kept giving them a chance to win it all.
Indiana has another legend on their roster, and the new president is ready to build around her. The Fever made the playoffs in 2024, but are just getting started. They will have cap space this offseason and a ton of wiggle room heading into the summer of 2026. Expect Krauskopf to immediately find pieces and a big swing could come as Clark heads into her third WNBA season.
Bringing back the 62-year-old was the perfect move. Krauskopf helped the Pacers reach the conference finals in 2024 and likely learned plenty from her time in the NBA. She certainly knows how to build a winner and put talent around her superstar. Those skills will be massive with Caitlin Clark on their roster. Finding the right role players could instantly vault the Fever into title contention.
The expectations are to win now and for years to come. It won’t be easy, but Kelly Krauskopf has over two decades of front office experience. Expect her to hunt for a 3-and-D wing and a bit more floor spacing around Clark this offseason. There will be marquee targets as the cap rises in 2026, and this could be the next step in the Fever dominating the W.
It should be an exciting day for Indiana Fever fans. They found the perfect person to head their basketball operations. Caitlin Clark will thrive, and no franchise will want to face the Fever after Krauskopf builds out their roster. Stay tuned to see what the new president can make happen.
