2. Katie Douglas
Douglas was a star before joining the Fever. The tenth overall pick in 2001 by the Orlando Miracle, Douglas broke out after the franchise relocated to Connecticut and became the Sun. She transformed into one of the league’s elite players and helped the Sun make five straight playoff appearances. Douglas was a two-time All-Star, three-time first-team All-Defense, and twice in the top-seven in MVP voting before being traded to the Fever for fellow All-Star Tamika Whitmore, Jessica Foley, and a first-round draft pick.
Indiana reached the conference finals in 2007 and added Douglas to help them get to the next level. The six-foot wing offered elite production on both ends of the floor and helped the Fever jump to new heights. Douglas was Tamika Catchings's running mate and helped Indiana win a championship in 2012.
During her six seasons with the Fever, Douglas averaged 15.4 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.5 steals in 31.5 minutes per game. She helped them reach two WNBA Finals and make the playoffs every year. Douglas is in the top five in points, assists, steals, field goals made, and 3-pointers in team history. The Fever do not win a title without her, and she is unquestionably an all-time great.
Douglas returned to Connecticut for her final WNBA season where she made her fifth All-Star appearance. It was a fitting end for a legend.
