The 11 Greatest Indiana Fever players of all time
By Tyler Watts
3. Tammy Sutton-Brown
The second-round pick in 2001 did not arrive in Indiana until 2007. In her six seasons in Charlotte, Sutton-Brown was an All-Star and averaged 9.5 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per game. The Sting were no longer a franchise after the 2006 season, which gave the 6’4 forward a chance to join the Fever and Tamika Catchings in free agency.
Sutton-Brown had arguably the best season of her WNBA career in her first year with the Fever. She made her second All-Star appearance as she averaged 12.0 points, 5.4 rebounds, 1.0 steal, and 1.4 blocks in 25.3 minutes per game.
The 6’4 force inside helped take the Fever to the next level. Indiana had won just one playoff series in franchise history before her arrival. They won seven in her six seasons with the Fever, including capping her career with a championship in 2012. Sutton-Brown was past her prime by that stage, but she played an integral role in the Fever getting to that moment. The 34-year-old retired following their title run.
Tammy Sutton-Brown is second in Indiana Fever history in blocks, fourth in rebounds, and fourth in career win shares. She is one of their best forward of all time and undoubtedly deserves a top-five place on this list.
