The Indiana Fever snapped the longest playoff drought in the W behind rookie phenom Caitlin Clark. She led the University of Iowa to back-to-back NCAA Finals before being the number one overall pick. Clark has brought new popularity to the WNBA and is already one of the league’s best playmakers. The Fever are having fun and believe they can beat anyone in the playoffs.

Indiana started 1-8 before transforming into an elite team after the Olympic break. They enter the playoffs as the sixth seed, but no team wants to face them. Clark has Stephen Curry range, and the Fever are finding their ideal roles off their superstar guard.

The playoff matchups are set, and fans are in for some excitement. Indiana will draw massive crowds, but have to start things on the road. Here is everything fans need to know from their schedule, the format, and how to watch.

Who will the Fever play in the first round of the 2024 playoffs?

The Fever were locked into the sixth seed, but they did not find out their opponent until the final day of the regular season. With the Connecticut Sun's win on Thursday night, they locked up the third seed and a date with Indiana.

Game 1: Sun defeat Fever 93-69

The Fever were dominated by the Sun in Connecticut. Caitlin Clark struggled to find her shooting and suffered a black eye in the contest. The Sun led throughout to take a 1-0 lead in the series.

Alyssa Thomas had a triple-double for Connecticut. They also got 22 points, six rebounds, five assists, and two blocks from DeWanna Bonner, but her best performance may have been defending Caitlin Clark. Marina Mabrey went for 27 points off the bench in the dominant win.

What is the WNBA playoff format?

The first round of the WNBA playoffs is a best-of-3 series with the higher seed playing the first two games at home. The semifinals and finals are a best-of-5 series with a 2-2-1 format.
