Indiana Fever superstar Caitlin Clark was the number one pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft and entered as the runaway favorite to take home Rookie of the Year honors. She is bringing new popularity to the WNBA and making history. Clark is already one of the league’s best playmakers, and the 22-year-old is just getting started.

The top selection has plenty of competition for this award. She was one of two rookie All-Stars, and her longtime rival, Angel Reese, is also setting records. The two are in a tight race for Rookie of the Year and appear to be the future of the league.

Who else is in the running at the Olympic break? Here is a look at the top rookies so far and what could help them become the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year.

5. Aaliyah Edwards

The sixth overall pick in the 2024 draft has shined as a starter but struggles to get consistent minutes when everyone is healthy. For the season, Edwards averages 8.7 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 0.8 blocks in 22.4 minutes per game.

The 22-year-old forward has massive potential but has struggled to find her stride. She had 23 points and 14 rebounds against the Sky in June and has two double-doubles this season.

Edwards’ biggest struggle has been playing time. She has played over 30 minutes just twice and has seven contests under 20. The 6’3 forward hopes to lockdown consistent playing time after the Olympic break and plans on showcasing her massive two-way potential.

Aaliyah Edwards was selected over Angel Reese, and she does not want the Washington Mystics to regret that decision. Expect her play to improve after the break as she tries to climb into the top three in the Rookie of the Year race.
