Yet another member of the Indiana Fever is starting to heat up overseas

Another day, another big Fever performance overseas... but this one has big implications on the Fever front court

The Indiana Fever Report has kept up with members of the Fever as they continue their offseason play overseas.

NaLyssa Smith, Erica Wheeler, Grace Berger, and the recently departed Temi Fagbenle have all showed out in November and December. Now another player is catching the attention of the Fever-- and at the perfect time.

Forward Damiris Dantas has been superb since beginning her season with Botas Spor in the KBSL Turkish League. In her seven games with the club, Dantas is yet to score less than 11 points in a contest. She is averaging 19.1 points and seven rebounds per game, including a 20-point double-double back in October (22 points, 12 rebounds).

The important takeaway: Dantas is playing well overseas, and seems to be completely healthy.

Back on November 23, the Brazilian dropped 26 points to go along with eight boards and a couple of assists.

In her latest contest, a matchup with Galatasaray, Dantas dropped a game-high 17 points and grabbed seven boards. She has scored 17 or more in each of the past five games for Botas Spor.

With the Fever losing Fagbenle in the 2024 WNBA Expansion Draft, Fever fans now turn their attention to Dantas. Should no moves occur in free agency to strengthen Indiana's front court, Dantas will be expected to play a significant role for the Fever in 2025 as Aliyah Boston's primary backup.

Dantas has dealt with several injuries since 2021, which caused the Minnesota Lynx to part ways with the 32-year-old after the 2022 season. She signed with the Fever after taking the 2023 season off, but did not join the team until halfway through the season after recovering from an MCL injury she sustained in the preseason.

Dantas showed glimpses of her old self in 2024, but ultimately played limited minutes behing Boston and Fagbenle. Now the front court has opened up and Dantas is expected to have an expanded role. Her ability to stretch the floor on offense while controlling the glass should fit right in with head coach Stephanie White's rotation.

If Dantas can return to form in 2025 and show a capability to play big minutes, White can run with several different looks. The primary starters, based on what the Fever ran in 2024, will consist of Caitlin Clark, Kelsey Mitchell, NaLyssa Smith, Aliyah Boston, and a combination of Kristy Wallace and Lexie Hull. This would allow Dantas to run center in the second unit, with Katie Lou Samuelson at power forward.

NaLyssa Smith, however, has shown indications that she wants to leave Indianapolis. Should she part ways with the organization via a trade this offseason, White can slide Dantas into the starting rotation and not lose much in terms of size.

White can also choose to run a four-guard set, playing Clark, Mitchell, Wallace, and Hull with Boston in the middle. If White wants to exploit the three-ball, she can swap out Boston with Dantas. Dantas is a career 34.5% three-point shooter.

If Dantas is the answer, the front court issues get a lot simpler for Indiana.
