Caitlin Clark's tryout leads to offers for a career outside of the WNBA
By Tyler Watts
The Indiana Fever are gearing up for the playoffs, but that has not stopped them from having fun. Caitlin Clark is breaking records and making history. She has taken the league's popularity to new heights and is already a legend. Her teammates love to play with her, and the Fever are just getting started.
Clark is already one of the best players in the WNBA, but she does not take herself too seriously. Lexie Hull filmed the 22-year-old commentating on the Phillies game. The hilarious video went viral, but it did not stop there.
Clark was not only asked about it during her media availability on Sept. 21, but the All-Star got several offers to take her shot in the booth.
Caitlin Clark gives credit to commentators
She explained how the video came about and what it was like commentating on the game after practice on Saturday.
The Fever’s play-by-play announcer Pat Boylan offered his take on Clark’s comments.
Filling the downtime in a broadcast is never easy, and Clark certainly showed some promise in the booth. She has several years of elite basketball left, but it may be something the 22-year-old pursues after her playing career. The offers are already coming in for multiple sports.
Caitlin Clark receives offers from 2 baseball teams and the Pacers
Clark was commentating on a game between the Phillies and Brewers, and both teams took to social media to invite her to join their coverage. Fans can see Philadelphia broadcaster Tom McCarthy's offer here before checking out what the Brewers official account shared.
If Clark does not want to commentate on baseball, the Pacers were quick with an offer for her.
This was all in good fun, but she would join a long list of successful players who turned into broadcasters. It certainly may be in her future if that is the path she decides to pursue. Fans have seen how special Clark is. She can do anything she sets her mind to, and the 22-year-old clearly has some interest in commentating.
The Indiana Fever are back in the playoffs for the first time since 2016 and ready to make a run. They face the Connecticut Sun in the first round in a best-of-3 series. Indiana is the underdog but has the best player. Is that enough to pull the upset? Fans won’t want to miss Caitlin Clark’s first playoff experience, so please tune in and enjoy the show.
